This past Saturday, May 18, over 350 youth came down to our event at Nathan Phillips Square, where they spent the afternoon trekking around downtown Toronto in our Amazing-Race style challenge as a part of our effort to raise funds and awareness for youth homelessness programs in Toronto. Apart from a huge thank you to everyone who made it all possible, we just want to let you guys know that it was a huge success!
We raised over $7000 that day, which will go directly to providing help to Toronto's homeless youth, by giving them access to the resources they need to stay off the streets.
This is our fifth year in running this event, and we are proud to say that we are succeeding in raising awareness about the problem of youth homelessness, which is an issue that over 10,000 young people in Toronto have to go through each day, believe it or not.
"Our objective was to raise more awareness about youth homelessness in Toronto by taking action to the streets. We want to engage youth to empower other youth in order to create change, and I think we accomplished that," said Michael Bazzocchi, the president of our Trek for Teens Foundation.
Indeed, all those participating in The Race had an amazing time running around the city, making new friends, and taking part in a movement of young people that want to make a change for the better in the city.
